Do you have funny things you do with your axolotl?

I'm starting to think I'm just weird but I really enjoy playing peekaboo with my axolotl, Satine. She will be in one of her PVC pipes, sees me, then turns her head. I duck down, then look up again. She's a little closer. I do it again. Same thing until she has her nose up against the glass staring at me with that cute little face of hers. :p It's probably just out of curiosity but she does it everytime and it's just so darn cute.

Do you have any weird little things like this you do with your axolotls? Or am I just completely crazy?

My title is phrased a little weird but I couldn't figure out another way to say it haha...

Not gonna lie, thought this thread would be a whole lot different from the title.

Yeah its my fault for phrasing it oddly. But at least it got you in here didn't it?

I changed the title to be less... creepy.... kind of.

Ooh... so curious as to what it was haha.

I sometimes talk to my axolotls. Like call them over when it's feed time "Ohhh Bananananaaa... I have some yummy worms for you! You love them! Ooh.. you want another?"

I was talking to them one time, and then left my room. My brother asked who I was talking to.. ummm... my axolotls??

My mom talks to my axolotls more than I do... She walks into my room before I wake up and I wake up to her talking baby talk to my axolotl. I keep telling her to stop wriggling her fingers above the tank because someday I swear my axolotl is going to latch on... Weird thing to wake up to for sure though!

Kiyo I do similar thing as u :) I sit in front of the tank and when he looks my way I call him over and encourage him to come closer and he does :) then I sometimes move my face to the side and he turns his head that way, or sometimes I 'stroke' his nose through the glass I could swear he likes it as he seems to relax and keep still maby he feels vibrations? And I talk to him a lotl :)

My fiancee was kinda dancing with them the other day haha :p they were all wiggly because they thought (wrong I might add haha) that he was going to feed them.

I talk to them all the time and my gf and I are totally thinking about filming her and making a music video, itll be hilarious

Awww. I do this nose thing too! Then sometimes she snaps like she was going to eat my finger... That's what I call love. ;)

Dancing with them seems adorable. I love it when they wiggle. Mine does the same thing when she thinks (and most of time this isn't true as well) going to feed her.

Axolotl music video... sounds like you'll need some wiggling axolotls. :p

When my axies are at the front of the tank I put my finger against the glass over where their faces are so they can't see me and when they swim forward to look at me I cover them again (they're very little so their heads are the same size as my finger tip :D)

My 2 year old son used to have races with abby(god bless him now:(). Tyler would start at one end of the tank and start running and abby would take off after him, then when they get to the other end they turn around and swim/run back to the other end. They would do this for ages. It was great to watch.

I could have sworn I replied to this...

I wonder what your axies will do when their heads are even bigger! Maybe they'll think your fingers are food like mine seems to do...

If axolotl racing was a sport, I'd start watching sports more. That's a very cute habit though. Mine just kinda moon jumps around everywhere (haha I call their little swim-walking moon jumping... they look like little astronauts on the moon).

My friends have caught me "coaching" my little babies atm to eat pellets.

basically just me saying things like "no don't spit it back out! :( ... bad ... bad axolotl"

or " good.. om nom nom nom :D"

I play fetch with my axolotls, I throw a tennis ball across the room, they run and grab it and then I whistle and they come running ready for me to throw it again!! It's so adorable! Their favorite game is chess and they beg me to play with them constantly. On Friday and Saturday nights we play poker for cash and those lucky buggers have ended up taking my whole paycheck before!! Can you believe Spanky is a fan of Shakespere?! Toby is partial to classic romance novels and Rosanne likes mysteries. On nice days we go out and play tag, but if it's dark we play 'ghost in the graveyard'...they get me every time! Chester is a master at Battle Ship, and Mary Jane likes to take naps in her hammock in the summer sun.

Isn't that just great!?!?

Then at the end of the day I snap out of my daydreams and come to the realization that they are incapable of thinking the way we do, their life revolves around eating, breathing, and mating...that's it.

I find myself doing the same.
"Come on you can do it!"
I go into cheerleader mode when she's eating :p

 I particularly liked the part about poker. Maybe someone should make that dogs playing poker poster into an axolotls playing poker one. I wish I knew what kind of books my axolotl liked... But seriously that whole thing made me laugh so hard as I tried to imagine axolotls doing all those things.

I'm glad you only tried to imagine them doing those things. There are some people who BELIEVE they do those things and more!

I tried calling out my lotls name (Hesher, as in the character off the movie - my lotl is his own, slightly psychotic, person ha ha, previously called Atropos lol), but i don't think it's old enough to notice anything like that. it's only just starting to grow the finger bits on its back legs. i'll probably try when it's old enough to eat the pellets
