Can axolotls get depressed?

I think one of my axolotls might be depressed, because he sometimes throws a tantrum by spining around really fast and then he goes into the corner and sits there. If i try to dangle a peice of meat near him he ignores it while the other 2 eat

I know they often just sit in one position for a long time, but i can sense that Gadaffi is not himself anymore. before he used to eat all the time and be more active.

have you ever seen this behavier before?

Changes in behavior like that can be evidence of some sort of health issue. I do believe that to some point, all creatures can be 'depressed' if they do not get the stimulation they need.

I've seen behavior like that in other animals, and sometimes it has to do with pain or some sort of neurological issue where they sense something that is not there.

I'd check the water parameters, but I don't think axolotls can really get "depressed".

No axoltols can not get "depressed". Depression, as defined, only happens in humans. Anthropomorphism is a fallacy. Quit trying to humanize an amphibian, and instead read the axolotl site and learn what you need to do to properly care for the animal.
