Hi All,
My tank is currently standing while the new sand settles for a day or two but after putting a thermometer in the water it reads 55. I don't think it's going to get any warmer on its own so do I need to get a heater or will 55 be okay for my axolotl?

Thanks

Firstly welcome to the forum.
He should be fine at that temperature (if you mean Fahrenheit because if you mean Celsius then you really have to cool water.) He should be a bit sluggish and eat less.
If you have any more questions feel free to ask.

That's no problem at all. When I have my tank set up over winter it stays between 40 and 45 degrees. Not too cold at all. They may end up eating less, but at 55 you should be fine. It's not too cold for them at all.
