If this is a joke, I feel like some of the people who accused him of being in this for the money may be on thin ice after... I really hope this is a joke though.

Do you seriously think John makes any money off this site???

Hey, has anyone checked kingsnake to see anyone over there is all "Hey dude I heard caudata.org is part of this forum now!! Awesome!"

Yes, April Fools! No, I don't take anything said in this thread (or the PMs I got) seriously. The link had to work or you guys wouldn't have believed it :).

For those wondering, we have somewhere around/just over $1000 in the Caudata.org bank after expenses. Down payment on my next car!

No what I was saying is about the other people who said he's in it for the money.

John,
You got me, you got me good. I have a whole year to plot and scheme but it will be hard to top this.

Couple of points before this sinks into the depths of time. Firstly someone said I hate kingsnake.com. That's not really the case. I find it hard to accept the sale of wild caught animals on a large scale. I understand that all the captive bred stuff originally came as wild caught, but some of what I see for sale on kingsnake makes me ill, mainly due to the scale of it, as well as the slimy track record of many of the vendors. In a way, kingsnake is largely responsible for our strong stance on the sale of wild caught animals on Caudata.org, all the way back on day 0 in February 2001.

On the "oooh John's gonna be mad at you" kind of thing, I think I've got a (somewhat?) undeserved reputation as a "Tom, Dick, and Harry" (the second one). If you've ever met me, you know I'm harmless. Mostly.

This is true. I remember telling a couple forum members that John is a great guy. He is so personable when you talk to him face to face. We had a great b.s. session everytime I've seen him. On the forum he sounds like an ------e sometimes but he isn't one.

thus far, my sample size of red-headed irishmen in life = 2. Both were good guys, though a bit nutty, and heavy drinkers (cliche, I know, but true). Chances are, this John fella won't be an outlier. Would love to go herping w. him some time, as he appears to be quite the newt whisperer.

I always knew John was just in it for the thousands of dollars he makes weekly from this site. Now he's going to enjoy his one lump million. *sigh* I am selling a magic newt for $10,000. It will grant you three wishes.

I sold that salamander! Unfortunately my buyer is whining he spent $10,000 on a common redback. Well, it only SEEMS that way. He feels ripped off because by the time the salamander arrived he had used up his three wishes. Sheesh, didn't he already wish

1. that it were true (which it is)
2. that he could get the money together (which he did)
3. that the salamander would arrive OK? (which it did)

All three came true, but now he's unhappy that he can't wish for untold wealth and riches. Hey, I said THREE wishes, not FOUR.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
