this year there are a few larvae, for this is the appetite of adult greater, every third day a worm in addition to what they eat in the water. When I enter the room then immediately go up the heads, like if they wanted say:"already"

WOW beautiful newts, are they captivity breed or wild caught? I just got my T. Kweichowensis & they don't go underwater, how do I make them go in the water? Thanks!

You don't "Make" them go underwater you let them do their own thing, you know they are living animals not toys...

They are breed in captivity, 10 years old now. From August to March/April they are in a terrarium in my basement. In the springtime I let them right into the water,

Ya I know but I'm a little concerned that they will die in their setup, is it okay to house them in a mostly aquatic setup

Oh okay, mine never go underwater but their whole tank is water with three docks. Is it normal for a T. Kweichowensis to never go underwater? Thanks

Kweichowensis aren't an Water loving Tylototriton species, they only tend to really go in the Water when it comes to breeding season, you could easily get away with just having a water bowl in there until breeding season comes around in all honesty. They won't die in their set up, they are mostly Terrestrial species anyway lol

Elliot: my spring - summer basin for kweichowensis has a water level of 12cm with large places on stones and barks outside the water. Resting places beneath the water surface are also offering. Never problems to go into water, but the time they are in this basin is at the most three month,

My water is 11 inches deep is that to deep for them? Thanks!

Hi Ummi,what an excellent work you did in Tylo's breeding ! Thank you for explaining it all.

Obviously you have succeeded in breeding many species of Tylo,one of the most beautiful and under threatened genus of newts. You must have a lot of experience.

All newts breeders would care about problems about temperature,water area,water deep, the complete year cycle,mating condition or sex ratio....Would you like to tell us more details? Really thank you.

Is it possible that animals from different collection areas behave differently with regard to their tollorance of water? It does seem that yours look especially healthy.KB
