Paranoid I know but-- My lotl is not eating?

I'm doubtful it's impaction. Do you have ornaments or plants that could be swallowed. Also, does your tank have a hood or is it open? Maybe the water could be contaminated with an air freshener or the like?
 
No poop, no eating lotl...

Hello, my lotl Aki, is not doing very well, he hasn't eaten in almost 2 weeks, is really thin, and hasn't pooped in 2 weeks either, I had him in the fridge for almost 3 days with daily fridged water changes but no avail... he's really pink and there is like white slime floating in his water every time I change it. It looks like a slime coat damage... I'm not sure, I usually use my hands to change him to one container to the next one with the new water.

I don't know what else to do. He used to eat fine but then he stopped after a week that I got him.

I followed people's advice, I separate container to see if my cycling tank was the issue, then I tried getting earthworms,and I did thanks to my uncle who drove me to the next town to get them... he ignored those, then I fridged him to see if ate sand or something and monitored him for poop...

I am out of ideas...

Sorry to read you are having such trouble with your new axie.

I read all of the thread and I notice that you have left food in the tank and also that you found debris in your ornaments. You have not tested your ammonia.

I too am paranoid! But I have kept fish for many years so I know that food and debris in the tank will create ammonia.

I have learned that ammonia is very bad for axolotls.

This is what I do.

I give them food on the end of a pipette. I take away all uneaten food after half an hour. I also take out all the poop at this time. I keep them in bare bottomed tanks with some Java moss to hide under or sit on top of and do 50% water change every 2 days. I have 9 tanks with 1 or 2 axies in each. It only takes half an hour to do the water changes. The tanks are at 15 to 18 degrees C. ( nearer the ground is lower temperature)

I will make a home for 2 of them in a big tank that I just bought (eBay £10 :D ) but I will put in a sponge filter and take 6 weeks to grow some bacteria to eat the ammonia before my axies go in.

I have had my axies for 8 weeks and they have grown from 3cm to 11cm and are very healthy with fluffy gills and good appetite.

I post this to share my experience so that you can see if any of it is any use for you. :)

yes I am well aware of ammonia, I have fish apart from lotls and they do not give me any issues. Then again its easier to monitor pellets than frozen foods. I have a siphon and siphon up the food every time they are feeded.

I just noticed that there was some food lodged among decor so i have dealt with that, now I take extra care to siphon them too.

Now, ammonia is not the issue here, because, the lotl is now in a seperate container with 100% water changes prepared before.
 
I sent the axolotl to the pet store, they are going to keep an eye on him for a bit because they have a vet of exotics coming over to check on him.

I'm grateful they are helping me.
