Worried! One of my juvi axies is VERY pale today!

Hey everyone!

Hoping you all can give me an idea of what might be going on with one of the juvies that I still have.

Fed everyone and did water changes before I left last night, and when I came home today, one of my juvies is VERY pale.

Audrey and the other smaller juvie are totally fine, good color and eating well. This little one is eating, but pale and a little sluggish.

Any ideas what could be going on with him? Everyone is still in separate Tupperware containers, since Audrey would try to eat them, and my runt needed to be fed separately to catch up a bit.

It does look like he had a growth spurt overnight. Would that make him pale?

I am not an expert, but maybe he's sick?.... Whats you water temperature at? Maybe all that growing might have to do with something... Sorry, I wish I could help! Best of luck with him!!

Light coloured axolotls will often go very pale if they have been sleeping or sitting very still. If your axie is still eating it's quite likely just because he's being a bit lazy!

Keep a close eye on him and watch for any other changes, but it's probably just one of the many ways they're gonna freak you out over time!

Just to chime in, I have also noticed my axolotls color can vary quite a bit day to day. As long as it's water and food are ok it probably is too.

Well, it looks like he just had to poop! His color was much better when I checked on him later and there was poop in his tank.

I'll need to remember this, as Audrey acted a bit odd when she hadn't pooped in 12 hours, then was back to normal after pooping a LOT!

Glad to hear all is ok, axolotls have many ways in which they can freak us out, so you ain't done panicking yet
