He won't eat :(

I got my little guy about a week ago, and I had some trouble getting him to eat in the first 2 days.. After trying tuna, blood worms, shrimps, and small live fish I finally eaten some tuna, and shrimps.. Now he hasn't eaten 3 days and its looking pale.. What can I do? He just looks at the food and turns away(I feed him with pincet).. I bought him in a pet store, were he was housed with a least 6 other baby's(5-7 cm) and with some water snake looking things (long black and orange striped thing) the aquarium was only a 50l.. That's why I think he has some scars on his tail.. And he's so skinny ... What can I do for that little guy? Can he be sick? No surprises from those conditions he came from.. Right now he's housed in a 64 l tank( he's only 7 cm) he has plenty of hides, and big river rocks, a filter and no light.. I change the water every day, and my temperature is 18-20 degrees ( though I have ice bottles and god knows what in it) can that maybe be the cause of lost appetite? I know the pet store had him at 26 degrees.. Please help... And I hope it isn't to complicated to read

it may be too late, because if the axie says its time to go, they'll basically commit suicide by staving themselves when there's something wrong. or he could have infected scars, or it could be parasites. here's a place that sells anti-parasites:

Thanks for your reply.. I hope it's not too late and I can make him eat.. Isn't there anything I can do? I don't think it is the scars there was a little bit bleeding and that's it the tail looks better.. What concerns me is that I hadn't eaten in 3 days... I'll try the anti parasit, and hope it help.. Can't you see when your axo has parasites?

Hello, I had a similar problem when I first got my axolotl, onyx. I first tried feeding him shrimp that were already dead (not dried though) and he wasnt interested at all. My options on food were limited so meal worms were my next choice. He wasn't interested in the worms at first, but I finally got him to eat a meal worm. Axolotls are not supposed to have meal worms because the worm's mouth can cause internal damage and axolotls can't digest the whole worm properly, though I didn't know that at the time.

Onyx now eats earthworms and loves them. If I were you, I would try feeding yours earthworms. To feed it, hold the worm in front of your axolotls face so it can see the worm and then it should snap at it after seeing the movement.
Another option is to raise the water temperature in your tank slightly to speed up his metabolism. This should make him hungry and possibly want to eat.

Hi, I had an extremely fussy axie who had been kept in appalling conditions also. I really worried because he wouldnt eat anything for over a week. But then I discovered fresh, freshwater water salmon and a miracle occurred! I think that's worth a try. Tuna is a salt water fish so I wouldnt recommend that. But I stress it needs to be raw freshwater salmon, not smoked salmon. I got 100grams at supermarket and cut into super small strips for her and kept it frozen in little bags. she loved it! also your little guy may still be a bit stressed so dont panic too much...mine wouldnt eat for 2 weeks but they were bigger. Axolotls can go of their food when mistreated, just keep the tank clean and cool, offer food and he will probably eat something soon enough.

Thanks for your answers! He finally eated some shrimps.. And he isn't that pale anymore. I didn't know about the tuna.. I won't give him tuba anymore
