Somewhere on this site it said he could just be sleeping....poor axie haaha if he was sleeping he got a rude awakening.
parameters are pH 7.4
Ammonia 0ppm
nitrite is high, 2.0 ppm
Nitrate is pretty normal, 10 ppm.... what could have caused the nitrite spike? And is this what is affecting my axies gills? He seemed fine not too long ago. He has never had any health issues

Something like This happened to me a long time ago, the other one died and my parents called me at work and told me my leucistic had passed too and if they want me to bury him. I said no because I wanted to bury him myself so they left him in the tank..and he had been in the same position for 6 hours. When I came home he was WHITE I was sad... I went to fish him out and he swam around, I fed him and he was fine the next day and that was like two years ago. Silly girl, I read he was sleeping, maybe your guy is in a deep slumber. Maybe give him some worms, something with movement??

Haha he's up and about now thank goodness. I was so worried!

It's times like this I wish these guys had eyelids! I'm glad your little 'lotl is fine. c:

on really cold days my axie would be like this, but the moment i got food, or warmed up the room she was fine

I am so glad I found this thread. One of my young leucistic axies pulled this on my last night. It was so white, I thought it was dead on its feet. This morning, it was back to normal.

It's scary! Glad to hear your axie is ok.

When Axolotls are inactive theres less blood flow in the gills. Changing the color from bright to dull.

There is bright, there is dull, and then there is ghost-white surrounded by a bunch of other leucies that are all bright ... it was pretty scary.
