Fire Belly Newt with webbed toes.

I've noticed my Fire Belly has two toes that are webbed together. It doesn't impede its swimming that I've noticed, but its still weird.

Will its toes always be webbed or do you think it will fix itself on its next shedding?
 
What kind of Firebelly? I have Japanese firebellies and the males develop quite wide webbing on their back toes in the breeding season. They seem to use their back feet for braking and turning when they are chasing the females.
 
A Chinese Fire Belly. Only the middle toes of one of its hind feet are connected.
 
In that case its probably just a slight birth defect or an injury that healed up that way. I'm sure it's nothing to worry about.
 
Thanks. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't going to be an issue.

I have a female FBN and she has webbed toes, just 2 of them on her right foot. When she was a baby, just starting out at Eft stage she escaped and dried up. It's a miracle she lived, but her leg rotted off... antibiotics, and prayers to many Newt Gods saved her. That leg grew back, and her tail/head/eyes... and the toes came back stuck together a bit... She swims fine... maybe that's what you have.

    with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
