Baby axolotl injured. Don't know what to do!

Hey,

We have a few axolotl hatchlings and we were changing their water when one of them got too close to the pipe and his side got sucked in. Now he has a bulge in his side and it looks red and sore and we believe his skin is ripped.

We have separated him from his siblings and have him in a separate tub with the water just above his back.

He does move but it's slow and kind of wobbly if that makes sense.

Is there anything else we can do? He is only 1 month and 1/2 old.

There isn't much you can do for this kind of injury - he'll either recover on his own or he won't. You've done all you can by isolating him, make sure he gets clean water regularly.

When it comes to changing water in babies' tubs I find it easiet to move the babies to clean tubs rather than change water with them in there.

It is adorable!! But I feel so bad for the injury. Unfortunately at that age, either they make it or they don't and you currently have done all you can. The only other thing is possibly consider is using a small piece of indian almond leaves to reduce stress and possible infection.

A very similar thing happened to one of mine. Would putting him in the fridge help?
