What should I put in my two empty tanks?

I recently acquired a 55 gallon tank I'm going to move my axolotl into in the next week, leaving me with an empty 26 gallon (24x12x18). I'm wondering what a good pet is to keep in there when I'm ready?

I also have 3 juvies that are in a 10 gallon, who will eventually be moved into the 55 with my adult (separated until they're all around the same size) as well. I was thinking of keeping a gecko in there unless someone suggests something I'd be more interested in.

I'm really into snakes but I feel like both tanks are too small so I'm okay with something terrestrial. I'll consider aquatic for the 26gal just because of how deep it is.

Newts are nice, you get some really cool looking species which are generally easy to care for as long as you can keep them cool. Which I assume you can since you keep axolotls?
Just something to think about...
