Please help! One of my lots looks weird (he is about 5-6 yeards old) :( His body has become very uneven and he does not eat neither his favourite - bloodworms, nor rainworms :( The other one eats everything as usual and is very active. Can it be that he has eaten some sand and can't poop now? Or is it a disease? He has become rather flegmatic as well :( Please help! :(

It is possible he has eaten a rock. Is there any size rock in your tank smaller than his head?

My female looks exactly like this. Did he recover?

I can't figure out what's wrong with her

I have a 4 month old axie with a giant round belly like that female. Their stomach should be as wide as their head. I don't see a problem with the female. As for the black axie, is it just after he eats? My guys belly sticks out in weird spots all over after he eats.

Your female look anemic , judge by her gills color . You need to check your water quality to see if there is any ammonia level spike . And your temperature cause axolotl need to be cold not warm. White gils could mean many numbers of things like ammonia toxicated , fungus, heat stress, unable to digest ( possibly gravel or small object other than food). As your male waking funny , if you have gravel then that is it no other reason. If not then check his feet maybe something irritating it. Try aquarium salt to boost her immune system, and electrolyte. If you seeing her gill color turning back to pink then she will be ok.

She's in the fridge which is why she's in a small tub, I'm aware she's anaemic, I've been speaking to some breeders and keepers and they all said that she definitely doesn't look gravid? That it's definitely bloat?

From the picture she doesn't look like she having a big bloating problem since it isn't yet bigger than her head , but if you are aware of her anemia situation then you should already know that anemia can cause bloating.

I feel like mine may look the same. I thought it was a healthy profile, but maybe not? Excuse the cloudiness, I had a weird cloud form, it's gone now, maybe substrate kick up from overactive Axolotls.

Mine died ? I think it was mainly the heat

Heat stress is very deadly , once your axolotl reach their limit there isn't much you could do to stop it , all we can do is tried our very best and keep our eyes on them every step of the treatment. Some maybe lucky and bounce back but some doesn't. It's all about how quickly you act on it. I've checked with my vet friend with the picture that you provided , all she said is that it was just a matter of time. I guess I just didn't want it to be so. :(

Did you finally check your nitrate , nitrite, ammonia , alkaline, ph level? Cloudy water mostly happen during cycling process that isn't yet complete. then it seems to stop later, During that time the level of nitrate and nitrite can Spike up then bacteria can build up that cloudy water you saw.

? oh no, I'm sorry. That is horrible, at least you likely figured out the cause, most posts on here I've read never figure out what may have gone wrong.
I worry about my temperature all the time. I have a freezer half way full of frozen water bottles, I get major anxiety if the temp gets above 77°F.

Do you know why most posts on here never figured out? Cause the heat problem was never mention at the beginning . . When the topic started as uneven body!, sepsis, or other reason than other than heat problem. Most people assume and make the same mistake of misdiagnosed far away from the heat stress problem. Because the heat stress effect all axolotl differently than each other, but it has only been documented as just started with some mucus on their skin. If you just look around you'll see how many horror pictures of all the heat stress on so many post it will make your head spin . If the poster didn't post all the info such as all water test level , temperature , tank condition at the beginning. Everybody will assume that the temperature wasn't the problem from the beginning and tried to think else where . :nono:

That's very true, I think gathering all of the numbers up front then asking for help could make for a much faster diagnosis.
Wow, I just re-read my comment, I put 77°F !? Ugh, no, no, no, no, no, I meant 67°F. I would actually have full blown panic if I found my tank reading 77°F.

All my water was fine.. It must have just been heat ? I did have bacteria bloom problems as I didn't know you were supposed to regularly disturb the substrate - bought a siphon and it disturbed it all and caused the blooms x
