My Wiggly is a 8 months old and beautiful golden color when I first had it. In the last few weeks, I noticed his mouth and foot are having some dirt and never goes away since. I tested the pH and it is neutral. He's eating fine and looks normal. So unsure what's happening to him.

I also noticed his color is fading off and a small lump on his front feet. I'm quite worry about him so hoping anyone could help!!!

First picture was taken when I first bought it. Nice and golden color. The others pictures are taken today and he doesn't look good at all.

Thank you...

He's also pretty skinny! He needs fattening up! What have you been feeding him?

I'm sorry, but that axie is quite sick, you need to get it to a vet.

What are the test results for Ammonia, Nitrite, and Nitrate?

What temperature is the water kept at?

Your Axolotl has symptoms that show it could be morphing.
Axolotls - Metamorphosed & Tiger Salamanders

Sorry, I did not test Ammonia, Nitrite, and Nitrate level, what do I need to test that? Sorry, I'm really new to this so need as much as information if possible. Water temperature is around 20-21 C

I also feed him daily with pallets. I was told to give him 3 pallets every second day but I'm feeding him daily. Isn't that enough? He's about 8 inches long at the moment.

If I put him to a fridge treatment, would that help?

Thanks

He needs to be in a tank that has been fully cycled. This is best done before you put him in it.

At 8" he should be eating earthworms. Try cutting them into chunks. Even 3 pellets a day would be starving him.

Nitrite needs to be at 0ppm
Ammonia at 0ppm
Nitrates below 20ppm

You test with the liquid test kits. (Strip tests are not accurate.)

He does seem to be loosing the back find and the gills look shorter. If his water quality is really bad, he may be morphing.

Thanks, I will test the water ASAP. Should I need to do anything else?

You NEED to feed him. The effects of bad water quality will be exaggerated because he has been starved.

My adults will gobble up around 10 pellets, 5/6 earthworms and a wax worm and chopped prawns - put that in perspective to what you've been feeding yours.
You need to buy - earthworms, nightcrawlers, wax worms (high fat content), you can feed frozen prawns (defrost them) cut up (don't just feed that though mix with the rest), pellets.

Mine are currently living on pellets as Royal Mail have lost my earthworms and waxworms I've ordered and I can't afford more. So because they're just on pellets and prawns I've been feeding them at least 10 or so pellets each (mine are the little round ones), and 1 and a half prawns each (or as much of that as they'll eat) and a wax worm each. - I do this every day or every other day. I'm not happy with just feeding them this but it will have to do for now until I find my worms.

So please order some food for your axolotl, he is starving to death. That combined with possible poor water quality may be making him morph. His eyes look pretty buggy and he's losing his "dorsal" fin, short gills etc..

Thanks everyone. Do I need to fridge it for any recovery at all?

No fridge needed in my opinion, just pristine water and LOTS of food. If he's morphing it will be too late to stop him now.

Please feed that poor boy! I feed mine pellets and they gobble up 10-20 each at a time, on top of earthworms every day to every other day.

I wish mine ate pellets!!! He spits them out. Only nightcrawlers are acceptable in his opinion.

I tested the water and everything is fine but his condition is getting worse. Can anyone else has any suggestions?

He needs to see a vet ASAP.

What do you mean by "everything is fine"?

What are the specific water parameters?

So the ammonia is 0ppm, Nitrites are 0ppm and Nitrates are below 20ppm? Temperature is between 16 Celsius and 18 Celsius?

Have you started the chopped earthworms?

He seems to be losing the back find and the eyes are bulging a bit which can indicate that it's morphing. Do you have a way that it can get out to breathe? Like a floating turtle dock?

I tested the water and it's all good even brought a sample to an aquarium to test it. He's still on pellet and I am unable get live earthworms in my area. Temperature is around 21 as it's summer over here. It's 40 out there and I've been using ice block to cool down the water.

Post the actual test results.

The condition of your axie clearly indicates that everything is not 'all good'. We need to see pH, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate results asap. This is almost certainly the result of putting your axie into an uncycled tank.

What filter do you use, what do you use to condition your water and how often do you clean his tank?

When you first set your tank up, did you just fill it up with water and put him straight in?

We need the exact numbers in order to help.

Many places that test your water are just out to sell fish so they will say it's fine so that you can buy animals.

What are the ammonia, nitrite and nitrate?

Have you tried the worms yet?

It's best if you get your axolotl to a vet asap. The longer this is delayed, the less chance that your axolotl will pull through.

It is easier to help if you post the actual readings of the parameters rather than saying they are good. As Chris said, many stores tell people the parameters are good when they are not. Besides making sure that water quality isn't causing or exacerbating your axolotl' condition, good water quality will be important to the healing process.
