Hi, Lancelotl is my first axolotl so I'm unsure on a few things, so I've had Lance for about 2 weeks but for the past week he hasn't been eating. I've put a worm in his tank and sometimes he's tried to eat it but spit it back out. I've checked they're not tiger worms but he still won't eat?
Secondly, he's started swimming directly up to the surface. I wake up at 7 and, my eyesight is really bad but I can see him swimming directly up to the surface some mornings I don't know if this is normal?
The water temperature is always at 20°C. The bottom of the tank is fine sand, he has 3 large rocks in his tank to make a small cave and a live plant.
Thank you

Check if all the water specs as
Ph
Ammonia
Nitrite
Nitrates
are in normal ranges. Also mix up the food get some axolotl pellets or different kind of food and try that. Not all axies eat or prefer all the foods.

he doesn't appear to have any visible stress signs. Could he just not like the particular worms you're giving him? I would try a variety of food for him, he could just be picky.

Bop didn't like the red wigglers, she spat them out, so I had to hunt high and low for earthworms when my pet store temporarily stopped selling them. -.-

Is he swimming to the surface for air? That's normal. Most axie's are generally more active at night.

PS: Love that name. ;)
