7 inch old axies gills curled backwards?

The title basically says it all, for the past five or six days I’ve noticed his girls slowly bending father backwards he has huge girls and I will post a picture, he’s eating fine he just started refusing earthworms yesterday his water stays clean because I’m tubbing him and his temperature stays from 63 to 69 Fahrenheit

This can happen with age.

Curled from stress is almost always forward and a pronouced C shape.

are you washing the tub every other day or so? Hot Water and Vinegar are the best - no chemicals. The plastic does absorb the waste and bacteria which can cause problems so a thorough is needed regularily

I use a paper towel after I dump the water and wipe the tank and decor to get rid of the slime, and I change every other day cause I cannot go through a whole bottle of seachem in a week

The build up over 2 days could be a cause

How big is your tub?

You could start aging water - leaving buckets out for minimum 24 hours to off gas the chlorine, chloramine.

Start using some white vinegar on the paper towel. Its fine if there is a little vinegar residue when you refill the tub .

4-5 gallons, and I’ll do that as well, thank you so much

Should reduce your Prime consumption and allow you to change water daily and see if it helps your lotl.
