I purchased an axolotl back in May and was told he/she was 2 months at the time. All the limbs were formed. Now that he/she is approximately 4 months old , it’s not nearly as large as others I’ve seen this age (I would say mine is 2.5 inches long) I’m looking for any tips for feeding and care to help them grow !
Thanks

I feed blood worms as advised by the breeder till it is older.

I tried putting no sand at first and he didnt want to Walk. What do you mean by impact easier ? Should I remove the substrate ?

Bloodworm is only 6-9% protein and your axolotl need 40-46%

Please look at getting live blackworms or cut up red wrigglers or repashy grub pie or Omega One Newt & Salamander or Zoomed Aquatic Newt pellet or rangen moist sinking pellets are awesome as well

Okay I’ll pick some up. Do you think this is the reason for him not growing ?

If your axie pukes up the red wigglers, don’t panic. Some axies hate the taste of their slime coat. I just used to cut mine after the clitellum, since the brain and things are stored above the clitellum😃

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
