Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum so if my questions in the wrong place I apologize.

Anyway, my current tank had detritus worms in it, and i mean some serious worms. I only started to see them about a day ago and since then they just kinda blew up in number.

I decided now would be a good time to set up a new tank for my axie Remi. I had been thinking about it for a while, and now seemed like the perfect excuse to do so.

He's being moved from a 10 gallon to a 20 gallon, and I was wondering if there was anything I could do to prevent the detritus worms from transferring to the new tank with him. I am a first time axolotl owner and I just got him about a month ago so I'm very paranoid and new to just about everything when it comes to tanks.

Any advise on the matter would be really appreciated. Thanks so much!

Detritus worms only thrive on an abundance of food i.e. waste, excess food.

Clean up the tank at least twice a day.

If you have access to fenbendazole that will treat the tank as well.

I find they spike and die off on their own

Thanks so much for your help! Just today I noticed they have decreased in number so things are looking better.

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
