Another fungus Q

Hi,
I hope you guys can help me, pretty much a newbie.

i have a driftwood in my tank and my axolotl, and recently i noticed he has been eating less, I thought it was because im trying to get him on sinking pellets.

today i noticed a small spot of fungus on him and on the driftwood. Parameters are ok, except for nitrates since my tap water has around 20-40 in it. I bought purigen and matrix but it spread its sand looking contengs in my tank. so i removed it . Matrix will take a few weeks to start functioning properly. I had quarantined and then put ghost shrimps for him to nibble on, unfortunately one died and I didn’t find it until it was also fuzzy. I did a 90% water change but it seems i was too late.
My questions are : should i do something with the driftwood? Like treatment or something? Or should i just let it be while i tub and treat my Axolotl with aquarium salt ? I was thinking if i do a complete water change and then put him back and he gets it again from the driftwood. Also best way to clean inside of the tank glass?
I heard vinegar on outside is fine but the inside?

The fungus on the axolotl is different from on the driftwood

You can boil the driftwood - i.e. 10-15 mins on a rolling boil.

you axo - you can tub and change water twice daily - I recommend using salt, johns or holtfreters at all times as it works as a preventative.

I did tub him, and then got aqurium salt, been using half a tablesoon for a 52 L tank, since I read the salinity could be harmful to their slimecoat and stress them. The fungus is gone now but will continue to add the salt as a preventative.

OMG

It takes ALOT of salt to get salinity to even register

Safe Axolotl dose is 1 tablespoon per 5-10 US gallons - I use 1 tbsp per 10g unless theres an issue
