Happy New Year Everyone!

This morning I woke up and my axolotls had gotten past the barrier I've had up to keep them separated. Anyways, I am assuming I will have axolotl eggs very soon! If there is anyone that is local-ish I'd be happy to help get them to a breeder! Momma is a Leucistic and Poppa is a Wild type.

I thought if females bred they wouldn't live as long
 
@Calgarycoppers I find when my female is pregnant for the short amount of time her gills get so red and she actually LOOKS healthier! After they broke down the barrier I've had up for an entire year, I was sort of proud of them :') and its breeding season here now anyways.

@Retrixy please don't bring those negative comments into my world when you have no proof. I am always open to learning new things if you have some research I can read :).

I wasn't supposed to be negative I just read somewhere so I thought it was true.

    with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
