New axolotl owner :) need some guidance

So I have gotten my first axolotl 3 days ago and I already know everything about axolotls, what they eat and what size tank they need,etc but there is still one thing I’m confused about, how much I should be feeding my axolotl. Im not sure how many times a week or day that I should be feeding my axolotl. He will be eating frozen bloodworms so im not sure how many times a week I should be feeding this to my axolotl, should I give him more food than just the bloodworms?

what you feed, how much, and how often will depend on the size and age of your axolotl. Generally speaking, bloodworms are not an ideal food source for axolotls as they are not nutritionally balanced enough as they get larger. Your main food source should be earhtworms (cut into pieces when they are smaller). My worms of choice are european nightcrawlers or red wigglers. I supplement the earthworms with occasional soft sinking carnivore pellets and repashy grub pie as a treat. Frequency will depend on their size. Juveniles can usually eat daily, while adults are fine being fed every other day. The temperature of your water is also a factor since the lower the temp, the slower their metabolism and the less they need to eat.

Oh okay thank you, I will definitely be switching food sources then.

If your axolotl is still a juvenile you will find they need feeding daily however as they grow you might find they start refusing meals this is because axies are pretty good and not eating if they are still full from their last meal ( most of them anyway, there are exceptions to the rule). This will give you a better understanding of how often they need feeding.
Also as per the previous post I would seriously consider changing to earth worms for a more nutritional meal for your axolotl .
