Gills Turning White and Slightly Red

Yep, thats it.

it's a yellow powder. One packet treats 10 gallons. What I have done in the past is just get a rough estimate of how much water I am using in my quarantine tub and then just sprinkle a little of the powder in. It doesnt have to be exact, but you wont need much. Let her sit in the treatment for 24 hours, then do a water change and add the treatment again. Basically just let them stay in it for about 4 days (changing the water every day like usual). If that makes sense.
It makes perfect sense. Thank you so much for your help! I'll let you know how things are going after or during the four days of treatment.

Today is day 3.5 of it being in the medicine. so far it doesn't look there's any improvement, but it also doesn't look any worse to me. I attached some pictures after I did his water change. He didn't want to turn around so I couldn't get as good of pictures as last time. I'm worried about how much one side of his gills have receded. Do you think they'll grow back to match the other side while this little guy is getting bigger?

Just like with any medicine, it does take time. He looks very healthy otherwise so I would say continue the furan and give him some time. Is he still eating well?

He's little enough that his gills should grow back no problem.

It depends on the day, honestly. I lowered the water temperature with a fan since the room had been getting warmer which caused his water temperature to go up. It is usually in mid to upper fifties now which may be why he doesn't want to eat as much. I will continue the furan for aslong as necessary, but do you have any time estimate how long this may take? My family and I are all eager for it to get better and be able to be moved into an aquarium. ☺

Good to hear, thank you!

Anything below 67 is safe. The cooler the water, the less he'll need/want to eat so that's normal.

Generally I see some improvement (even if its small) within about 5-7 days depending on what I'm treating. Keeping him tubbed longer may be necessary just to keep a closer eye on him.

My axolotls gills took almost a week to improve. But as long as his/her gills aren't completely gone then it will most likely get better quicker.

I've been treating my little guy with the Furan since March 25th and his gills don't look like they're improving. The patient is acting fine, but his gills on one side just don't look right. I'm not sure what to do at this point, as he can't stay medicated forever. S/He has been eating fine and is pretty active. It likes to swim around and is getting more comfortable taking food from my fingers, etc. I don't think it's a good idea to put any more medicine than recommended in the water, correct? I don't want to overdose him. Attached is a photo I took this morning.
