Does my axolotl look healthy? His gills had fungus and now he’s shed It and looks great in my opinion. Advice on tank is appreciated!

Thank you for the feedback!! I was considering adding crayola play sand later one because it’s supposed to be super soft and non toxic.
Ooooo. What color do you plan to get? I know natural colors (black or tan) are supposed to be less stressful. I highly recommend CaribSea Super Natural Crystal River sand from Petco. The axolotl will stand out a lot better against black though, in which case you can get black diamond blasting sand (fine or medium grit) from Tractor Supply.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
