My axolotl 'Dune' has finally died after a long struggle for life. She had a series of treatments including; tri-sulfa tablets, aquari-cycline (tetracycline) and a few drops of Melafix (cajeput oil) attempted as well. When none of the above had made any difference I attempted to Betadine the 'growth' using a cotton bud, this appeared to have zero effect as well. Just wondering if any other people had seen a similar 'growth' on an axolotl or if anyone knows what it is?

It was prabally a tumor of some sort. It was probally caused by a viral infection. Could have been something in the tank or maybe it was in something she ate. Sorry about your lose.

My son's axolotl has a similar growth on it's face. We have no idea what to do about it or how to treat it. I recently started thinking that it might be some form of cancer. Does anyone have any ideas. I don't have a picture at the moment but I will try to get one.

Thank you

it could have been cancer, considering it did not respond to any of the tratments. In this case there was nothing you could have done :(

i'm sorry for your loss, and @MuShu, i hope your axie growth doesn't effect its health

Hello,

I would suggest getting the axolotl to a vet if at all possible. Cancer, or other possible causes of lumps (most will be abscesses/granulomata) may be treatable, and this option should be explored if at all possible.

Hope you can get her sorted out.

Bruce.

Thank you for the information. I feel a little more hopeful of finding some resolution to his problem.

Thanks

So far it hasn't seemed to affect his over all health.

Thanks
