Kaiseri breeding condition

For such a small species the larvae are surprisingly large. Some are approaching 7cm and still a little way from morphing. The adults are only 10cm...

They are real biggies when they morph, i have had the bigger ones at 2.5 inches although i let them stay aquatic for a few weeks and they grow real well.
When they get those adult colours very soon i suspect, they will look amazing!

Still with quite large gills the first explorer hauls out.

Looking good Mark, has he or she dived back in again?
Mine seem to like going back in the water, feeding then coming on land at night.

Juvenile kaiseri make me happy in ways I cannot describe. Keep up the good work folks!

On my end I have not much to report. Last years survivors are going strong, this years larvae are just getting ready to morph as my adults bred much later in the year for 2011.

Here are a couple of the Kaiseri juvs from this batch of eggs and the set up i keep them in when terrestrial. They are now big enough to breed this time, fingers crossed!
I have also aquired another adult group of Kaiseri from Germany and a few sub-adults from other bloodlines for future breedings.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
