Hi there,
I had a pair of marbled newts but recently lost one :( not exactly sure of the cause but she never ate much and was significantly smaller than the other and even with tong feeding was difficult to get her to eat. Either way, the other one is thriving and a champ at eating. My concern is, will the remaining one be ok on her own? I can’t find much info on their social behavior in the wild. I see lots of info on the max you can keep together but will one be sufficient on its own? Part of me feels bad that she lost her tank mate but I also feel that may be me assigning my emotion to the matter. Is it important to keep multiples for natural/healthy behavior. Any insight is appreciated!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
