22 degrees celsius?

the axolotl will be extremely stressed and would eventually die - fungus and bacteria thrive at high temperatures and the axolotl would be weaker from it's stress.

How long was your tank at 30C Yan? If your tank is reaching that kind of temperature I would just put your axolotl in the fridge.

ok so i have to say this skylar before ed gets in first lol, i also thought they thrived (fungus that is) at higher temps but i was informed that wasnt the case, it just seems it prefers higher temps because it takes hold then, it only takes hold because the stress caused by heat lowers its immune system...

yan, im surprised your axolotl isnt dead! most tropicals dont even like that heat (with the exception of discus etc). id seriously consider lowering that temp by fridge, esky or ice bottles... i doubt fans would work too well at that temp

sorry i just thought it'd be the same as bacteria (they like 37 the best usually)

Mine have sat at 22 - 24 degrees celcius for over a year now and they have been fine.

With the extremely hot days in summer they get a bit upset but I just chill the water down again with frozen water bottles.

I think the Axies in Australia are pretty climatised so they are used to the heat to an extent.

I think I would be worried if they got to 25 or more.

hey guys... i have a heater in my tank and it was set to 22C but now my water temp has reached 30C!! I have turned the heater off in hope that the water will eventually cool down... i have a heater going in my room 24/7 so it is pretty warn in here, would that effect the water temp in the tank?
my axie is still pretty active despite the 30C temp... but i'm worried thats way too high.
also, the water has got a little murky over night... why would that be? and how can i fix it?
thanks..

That is way too high! You don't need a heater in an axie tank (unless it is too cold below 5degrees celcius). A heater in the room does affect the tank temp. We have 2 of our axie tanks in our lounge so when the heater is on we keep an eye on the tank temp which does rise as the heat in the room warms up. Do you have a cooler room to put your tank, that doesn't require heating or if not the coolest part of the room where the heater isn't positioned? Our other tanks take up space in the cooler room (spare bedroom) which we don't heat (they sit at between 12-15deg cel.)

Hey... thanks for your reply. I have turned the heater off and now the water temp has come back down to 26C... I don't have anywhere else the axie can go as im at college and wouldnt trust leaving him anywhere else... but he is as far from the heater as possible and close to a window.
