3 toes + 4 toes = ????

I noticed today that My black Axolotl has three toes on one of its front hands, and 4 toes on the other, and the one with 3 toes, the hand isn't wounded at all, it appears to have grown that way naturally, possibly from an earlier problem. I am wondering, will it grow its 4th tow back? The 4 toes on the other hand are really small, hardly there, but do not look like they have been hurt. Hmmm.. If he just has three on one foot for the rest of his life and 4 on the other, then he's just really unique

My white Axolotl seems to be doing much better, his nibbled legs look healthy, so I think they will grow back soon. Just wondering about that 4th toe though

When axolotls regenerate body parts you never know what you are going to get.

The really small foot you see is probably a newly regenerated one. I have noticed when my larvae grow back a limb it is at first a smaller version of the soon to be finished product.

I bought my new golden axie Mokey with only three toes on one of her front limbs. I've only had her a few days but in that time a tiny fourth one has started to grow between the other ones. It looks pretty funny

Maybe a fourth finger will grow on the hand of mine. I'll have to keep watching for it

my golden albino was in really bad shape when i bought her, she had one leg and three stumps of varying sizes.
the out come: front left limb;normal. Front right limb; hand is used upside down. Back left limb;four toes(that way sice it regenerated in september. back rightlimb; backwards foot.

I guess, since all my other axolotls regenerate perfectly, my gold albino is just very delicate/a freak of nature. Maybe as a result of inbreeding??I also think this because she is matured and only about six and a half inches long, the belly bloat and black fingertips appeared at six inches and at seven or eight months of age.

My Dragoon II got 5 toes on back legs and 4 on front legs, is that strange or natural?

Vanessa, 5 back toes and 4 front toes is the normal count for axolotls

I've been reading some books on axolotls (all 2 of them that I found in the library lol) and it says that the older the axolotl, the poorer its regeneration capability, and some animals are better at it than others. Hey.. I wonder if it would walk backwards if all its legs regrew the wrong way *ducks for cover* lol!
