Acting strange and twitching while eating

Hi I'm new to having axolottles. I've had gandalf and reptar for about 2months. I'm concerned about my albino one. He's was fine for a while then started to swim around and stopped eating a lot. Now when he eats, he gulps and his whole body twiches as if he's in destress. I did feed him some krill prior to his actions. I'm not too sure what's wrong. I've checked the levels and I have a new tank cycling to seperate them from my gold fish. Please help me understand why he twitches, it worries me. Ill try the fridge but please help.

Hi, I wouldnt worry as long as he's actually eating. If he was in pain or distress I would think he would totally be off his food or just take a nip at it and spit it out. Others can correct me if im wrong but some axies just have funny habits. I have one that goes nuts when he eats.

Did you say that you're keeping your axolotls with goldfish? I hope you at least have a divider...

I can't provide much insight on why your albino is twitching, though.

My baby Gally twitches when he's eaten too much and he's fighting to keep the food down. Because axxies lack teeth that can actually break down their food, the twitching seems to happen when the food is moving inside their bellies - Gally twitches when she is trying to keep down wriggling worms!

Did you say you feed yours krill? I'm not sure, but I've never heard of feeding them that before. Isn't that plankton?

Krill is very salty and is not the best food, have you tried worms?

Twitching is often associated with digestive discomfort, he may find shrimp a little sharp in terms of exoskeleton.

Try him with some earthworms, waxworms or butter worms.

And no, goldfish and axies don't mix - separate them ASAP.
