Admit it! Do you name your newts?

My male noto: Fiver, after the rabbit in Watership Down, and because it had five spots (six now . . . weird)

my female noto: Maggie, as in "I ain't gonna work on Maggie's farm no more"

my male karelinii: Rudie, not from the (american)football movie, but from the Clash song "Rudie Can't Fail," because for much of the year he has a mowhawk. What a punk.

one of my female karelinii: Jenny Craig, because she is really freakin' skinny

Patrick, that's funny because I had a T. granulosa I'd named "Kate Moss" because she was so skinny.

my husband calls my oldest axolotl "thunderbird 2", he reckons she looks like it

I'll(sadly) admit I do name things from time to time. Never used to, bad habit I seem to have developed(though I draw the line at naming fish)! I tend only to name 'cute' things, and animals that show distinct personality's(newts, toads(never named my tree frogs for some reason), anoles, gecko's).

Currently have 2 Cynops Orientalis named Vulkan and Vesta.

i name all m animals and two of the guppys as i can tell them apart they tinyest is called tiny and black one is called phaybian my dog was named after our staffy my cat named after the singer and jfb newts after pokemon who morph cant tell guppys apart so cant name them

caan i ask why people dont name there animals sometimes i probably wouldnt name any babies i would give away only animals i intend to keep

Most of us have either too many animals to name, or see them not necessarily as 'pets', but more as specimens.

most of mine have names the fire bellys are jay, silent bob and stitch, the eastern newts are space ghost and tyrannosaurus Alan, the slimy sal is mcrib, and my rouch skin newts well one is called tom selleck and the other thinks its name is hello. I also have a leo gecko called smithers, poor smithers later i found out is actually a girl.:p

the only amphibian I have named is a VERY large pyxie frog named Gomek... He is in an episode of supernatural and has been in several commercials. People always ask "what's his name?" so gave him one.

four JFB newts:

George
Melvyn
Dave
Clive

:D why not

3 Paddletails:

Big Daddy because he was the largest one I got
Little Man because he was half the size of Big Daddy
Little Mama because she was so thin and small (not anymore)

I too am a female who anthropomorphizes all of her animals.
I only have 3 herps as of now though.
My male C. Orientalis is named Pathos.
My female Salamandra Salamandra is named Vladimira. (It was originally between Vladimir or Anastasia, then I decided to just go with Vlad because he was still to skiddish to let me look under his tail. Now that I've realized that 'he' is a female..Vlad's already stuck)
My male African Fat-Tailed Gecko is named Ember.
My female cat is Spock. (I'm not a trekkie though. =P )
:)

Heh, compared to the lot of you... I'm pretty bad.

I name just about everything, and most often my names have a meaning. Atherius is the laptop I'm using now, which is Latin for "Heavenly, celestial being"...

Haven't named my axolotl larvae yet, because I'm not sure which ones I'm keeping. I have however started picking out names I like. Rackham (pronounced Rack-em)was a famous pirate, And Zarya was a goddess of the moon in Russian mythology. Morena was the goddess of the sun (good maybe for the golden albino, but I don't know that its a girl.) All of my fourteen chickens have names, and he two ducks, but I'm the only one who remembers them.

Still, I have to argue, I'm not as bad as my roommate, who insisted on telling my axolotls bedtime stories, while they were still in their eggs...
