1 week ago, I took in 3 axies. The girl said she had rescued them from someone 3 months prior. She claimed when she rescued them they had a fungus and that she had done all but a salt bath to try and get rid of it. She said they gave her current axie the fungus. Looking at them however, the lighter spots are not cottony or fluffy at all. I am concerned for the gills on 2 of them. They are super active and eating fine. There are a couple spots that I can't tell if they are iridophores or scabs/or something else. Thoughts? I'm not adding them with my axie until I know they are truly healthy. I have more pictures if needed.

I've been doing a lot of research and it all seems to say if it's not cottony or fuzzy then it's probably not a fungus. Some suggest vitiligo/iridophores and natural coloring. As for the the gills, maybe after awhile in my tank with good water quality and temp that will help them grow back??

I had an extremely similar thing happen to my wild type axolotls (summer was extremely hot and I couldn't keep them cool enough). I got a chiller almost two years ago and wonder why I didn't do it sooner...

This is the thread where I was asking for help. http://www.caudata.org/forum/f46-be...k-axolotl/102411-light-patches-wild-type.html

The last thing I tried was applying ketaconazole cream to the affected areas of each axolotl every day for 7 days. This did not help either. They were eating fine and otherwise acting fine, but the spots never cleared up.

Thanks for helping these axolotls out, and I hope they continue to to well in your care!
