I’ve just inherited an adult axolotl (probably ten years old). I was having trouble feeding her the small pellets that she came with- she just wasn’t seeing or smelling them. So I ordered this new feed which seems to go down well. This is the question: the bottle says feed twice a day (it doesn’t say how much but I’m assuming one pellet twice a day). But I thought adult axolotl’s are better fed a larger amount every few days. Does anyone else use this feed? Is it ok to feed 6 pellets every 3 days?

if you can find out the feeding routine from the previous owners, if they fed her every three days do that, if she was fed daily do that. at ten years old she will be used to a routine, if you can't find out then feed her every other day, although it doesn't specify amount put a few in the tank and see how many she will eat in a specific amount of time ie.. 5mins then you will have a basic idea of the amount required at each feeding.

Thanks - that’s handy. It was every 3 days. Unfortunately she never seems to find food at the bottom of the tank so I’ve taken to just feeding her with tweezers.
