Hi I have one female adf and two males. Since 1 of the males tried to mate with the female she has been isolating herself at the top of the tank for 3 days apparently breathing air. She has never behaved like this before even though the males have tried before. She is not feeding and her body seems more swolen than usual. Can anyone advise? Paul

Hi just an update. She seems to be recovering. As calcium defficiency may be a reason for her illness I added high calcium mineral water to her tank. The response was immediate so it was either this or the medication which worked.

Hello Paul,
more information about this you can find here: http://pipidae.net/faq_illness.php

Which dose gave you the frog?
I only know calcium for prophylaxis and not for treatment.

Bye Martin

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
