Hey Guys,

My axies are 5 inches long, and 5 months old. Is this normal? What is your guys' age:size ratio? Just wondering :) thanks

Yes, that is pretty normal. Anywhere from about 5-7 inches for one that is 5-7 months of age is average. Within a batch of larvae with the same hatch date, you will see great size differences/growth rates among them over time.

My oldest is almost 12 years old and is around 9-10 inches.

My youngest is around 5 years old and is around 6 inches long.

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
