Hi all
One of my axies is currently under siege with what i think is a nasty body fungus. She's been having recurring fungus problems that i can't seem to get rid of and so i there's something wrong with the way i am treating her for it. the water parameters are mostly fine, but recently there was a high nitrate spike and so i did several water changes to rectify this. i do weekly 25% water changes. She is currently isolated from my other axolotl after he bit part of her right off, beginning the recurring fungus fight. i've since upped the feeding regime to avoid any possible bites in the future. when her arm was partially bitten, she got a really fast white fungus which caused her flesh to fall off (it was really gruesome). i treated her with chlorinated water baths the same way as salt baths, as i read this was just as effective but milder on the axy. The fungus cleared up within a week and she was just dandy for about a month after that, with fast regrowth of her arm. Recently i noticed two white blurry-ish areas on her tail similar to the fungus on her arm. so i went and treated it the same way with chlorinated water baths. it was receding nicely when all of a sudden, probably around the time of the nitrate spike, the furry-ness spread to her torso and her new little arm and part of her gill. shes stopped eating and is not at all herself, in fact she does not look good at all. i must also mention that around the same time, the divider i have in the tank somehow got a tear in it and several of the feeder fish from the other side of the tank got in and have been nibbling on her gills, which are unusually small anyway. i have separated them to a separate tank entirely.
My treatment mustn't be right or strong enough as it is doing nothing and i am very concerned. pictures are coming when i get my camera fixed tomorrow. i'm really worried as she was doing so well and now she is just awful. any help appreciated :)

PLEASE HELP i know i just posted about fungus but i was just doing a water change and i accidentally hit the thermometer and the end bit broke!! inside the tank! it's one of those ones with red stuff and the little black beads in it. i was so freaked out i moved the axy, the same one that has the fungus into a little tub for now. i got all of the black bead out, had to do it with my hands, and there was broken glass too. whats in those things? is it toxic? can i put her back in? im so worried! shes in the bucket now and the water change is half done and i dont know what to do im freaking out. i would put her in the other tank with my other axy but im worried that the fungus may spread?? and will this all be too stressful for her? have i done more damage by moving her because i freaked out? ah! really concerned

The temperature of the tank is on the high side of axolotl temperature because its coming up to summer. it hasnt gone above 20 but is sitting at about 19 degrees Celsius

*intensely exhales* thank goodness! awesome. So iv just completed the water change, and made it a larger percent by using some of the dechlorinated water i had ready for my other tank :p am i right to put her back in do you think?
and thanks for the luck wishing, i really hope i can pull her out of this one :)

If you are sure you have the glass shards all out, then it should be safe. I've been lucky enough not to break a thermometer in an aquarium (yet), so I don't know how hard they are to find.

well they were pretty hard to find - from the angle i was on they just looked like the light bending over water drops on the outside of the glass - till you put your finger on it :p but because i was majorly freaking out i was super obsessive with getting everything out - bare bottom tank helps a ton
