Aloe vera

i was thinking that a couple of small aloe vera plants would look nice in my tank. are they safe with newts? i know most other animals are fine with them.

also, do you think the plant would do well in an unlighted tank? it would be in a pot of dirt on the "land' part of the tank.

i just realized that aloe vera is a type of cactus... i'm guessing it wont do so well in a humid newt tank. but if anyone has ever successfully kept one in that type of environment, let me know ;)

I have one aloe vera plant in with my paddle tail...It is in a pot that is used as the land area...It has done well but it has only been a few weeks

Never mind this...It died and my paddle tails were ripping it apart and climbing on it.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
