I have a large group of larvae all ages from nearly hatched to month old. How long is normal breeding season? What age/size do they have adult coloration. I have 2 pairs laying regularly. I trying to figure the tank space needed to raise them. I know they morph at 4 - 6 months. If well feed breed about one year from morphs. I am wondering what age they would be pretty to sell.

Breeding season can be extended if you keep the temperature down and the days short. The males can sometimes start getting their adult coloration as early as 5 months old if you feed them well.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
