I think I posted in the wrong place last time.
After some research I'm almost certain that I will have alpine newts in the aquascape I plan on creating. Of course I'll set up the aquarium first and give it a few days for the plants and substrate to settle in before obtaining the newts.

I'm looking for two newts, M. a. alpestris, male and female, in the aquatic stage. I would prefer relatively younger newts but of course not eft stage. M. a. cyreni is acceptable as well if no alpestris are available.

I live in Chicago Illinois so obviously looking for a breeder in the US. If anyone reaches out I'll be happy to email about pricing and shipping methods.

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
