The last week of October I went to the Philly Zoo. They have their Ambystoma andersoni on display. The animals look great. I would turn the water flow down a little. The now have Ambystoma andersoni, Pleurodeles waltl, and Pipa parva on display that they received from me.

NICE, Mike. It's been a while since I hit up the zoo. Are those Spanish Ribbed Newts adults? I would love to see fully mature, full-sized specimens.

Every time I see a picture of your Andersonis I resist the urge to buy a few.

Very nice.

The ribbed newts at the Philly zoo are large adults. They've had them for years. The Ambystoma andersoni are young adults that will be ready to breed in the spring. They have some nice amphibians but not nearly like they did when Kevin Wright was in charge of the reptile house.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
