I am a brand new member of Caudata.org and this is my first post. A little more than a year ago, I became an ignorant, inexperienced caretaker of a group of Arboreal Salamanders. While searching, rather desparately, for information on how to care for these remarkable creatures, I came across Caudata.org and these forums, and learned enough to be willing to carry on and attempt to care for my new charges.

The payoff came tonight when I returned home from the theater to find that my mated pair had produced a clutch of eggs.

Thank you to John Clare and all the posters in this forum over the years for helping me and the salamanders.

Now to begin anew the process of educating myself about next steps with eggs. A daunting task!

Thanks again.

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on the eggs! With luck someone like Russ will spot this thread and give you some pointers - I think he's bred them before. If you can post some photos we'd all be grateful :D.

Where did she deposit the eggs? If she laid them under some proper cover just leave them there for ~65 days. At that point I remove them to a Perlite container where they usually hatch at ~75 days. I seperate them to avoid parental cannibalism (not that I've seen it, but I don't want to test it either) and plain old misplacement in larger containers. There are really more details to it than that if you need them. You better start getting your springtail and fruitfly colonies going!

I have a big clutch (25+) that should be hatching in about a week. Unfortunatley someone ate my two clutches from the albino!!
