Another question about wood

This is a question about wood. I know i post too much and all, but here it goes. I was riding my brothers 4 wheeler in the woods ( i had a chain) . I found a dead pine wood tree i think that was what it was. Its the one that smells strong and funny. i wraped the chain around a branch and got it off with the 4 wheeler and i brought it back to the house. I got the exsess junk off of it (bark) and cut it allot. So now i am at the questioning point. Can i keep cedar wood with my Cynops of asortments. The wood is submerged in water and half out. Is it ok with my cynops species? And yes i know that you shouldnt mix species, but it is in the same group.

(At least unless it is old bog wood and you know what to look for).

Paul what kind of Cynops are you housing together?...I dont believe all Cynops Species can live together...At least not peacefully.

Cedar is a very toxic wood for small animals because of the fumes and the naturally accuring chemicals in it. I would say NO and the way you worded it makes it sound like it's already in the tank, if it is you need to get it out ASAP!!

Even if your species are of the same genus, you shouldnt mix them. then you run the risk of hybrid breeding, not to mention the size differences between various cynops species.

Ok its not in the tank, i'll just put it in turtle pen. I dont have any yet, but i am getting C.P C.O or C.E.P or just one of those, probaby C.O and C.P

Japanese get bigger and mine are more aggresive...They might pick on the Orientalis...But im no expert.

As said many times, mixing is not a good idea. 1 species. African dwarf frogs are another option.
