Every once in a while I will hear a splash from Pinkys tank, and see her swim rapidly to the other side. Rarely. This morning at about 5am she woke me up while splashing around. Checked on her and nothing. She has no tank mates or anything. So not sure. But she must have hit her tail against something because she has blood under the skin. Not a lot. But noticed also she has a slight rip in it as well. Nothing sharp in the tank so probably from hitting her tail against something just right. Can try to add a pic. She seems just fine and not a serious injury, but has any one else had a self induced injury?

It happens. Just keep an eye on the injury, watch for signs of infection. They usually heal up without complication.

Oh yea, not worried. Got pink with a freshly bitten off arm as a baby and healed up nicely. :)

My two can be 'over enthusiatic' in their playing which has resulted in the odd knock yeah ;)

Lol. Just like kids I guess! Its all fun and games... just wish I knew what was freaking pink out. There's nothing abnormal in there. I was the only one home. Hmmm... maybe a bad dream of the turtle in the neighboring tank lol

My Leucistic freaked himself out the other day- by turning around on the spot and poking himself in the eye with his tail. I'd have had more sympathy for the little fella if it wasn't so hilarious

I've seen mine do something similar to Etrigan's. They'll be swimming and randomly turn around and try to bite their tail as if there was an itch. The white albino actually took a chunk out of it's own back ridge doing this. I've also heard of other's axolotls doing this too. I've yet to see an explanation for it.

Sometimes my olive axie Grimlock gets spooked and speeds around the tank and knocks himself out, well its only happened twice to be honest. I thought he was dead, his gills went down, didn't move and his legs went limp. I was devastated but his absolutely fine now, he slowly raised his head as if to say WTF after 45 mins or so, It sounds terrible and it was! but its kinda funny now lol, he hasn't done it for awhile now haha

Today my "bastard" decided hr is scared of worms and runaway under the big root he got in the tank and ripped his fin on the back... Worried cos herd they do not grow back... We will see.

They don't grow back? I thought they regenerate everything? Hmmm... figured if they can grow eyes back fully functional, they'd be able to grow back everything. Very interesting!

I've seen fins regenerate. Not sure where you heard that info. Mine used to tear his fin all the time (or somebody tore it for him!), but it usually healed okay. Sometimes he had a little scar.

Can they see their reflections in the tank? I had some reflective silver card next to the tank and James Bond spent a few days chasing his reflection up and down next to it. He will follow my finger on the outside of the tank so I suppose he thought it was that. I wonder if Pinky (great name!) surprises herself with her reflection on something.

Truth and false about axies... You learn all the time. He is going to the fridge tomorrow, so that might help him...

Fridge for a fin? Is that the only reason? If so he doesn't need to go into a fridge. I bought mine with a freshly lost leg and healed back fine in the tank. Just not sure if being taken out of his environment and put in the fridge would stress him? Just a thought.

I think they may. Pink would run up and down the tank with nose at the glass. Hasn't done it for a while tho. It was pretty funny to watch lol

No no... He hasn't pooped for 12 days so he is pooping into the fridge to clean his digestive system... He done ok... So he is out tonight or tomorrow and back to the tank... I think he stressed me more than i did him... I got gills pushed forward and hookie tail ;)

Ha-ha ok. ;) its still funny to me when I hear people say my axolotl pooped in the fridge lol

My girlfriend loves it when she opens the fridge and finds maggots, earthworms, or axolotl for that instance... But after a poo in the fridge my life expectancy would be much shorter...
