Although we've had an awful summer so far, the tank temp is usually only just under 20 degrees. It was really hot last year and i had trouble keeping the temp down, i used a normal fan blowing across the water, but being on all day, everyday, caused it to over heat and stop working! I look at getting a cooler but they are far too expensive, i did find an aquarium cooling fan and am thinking of getting the small one.

What do you think?

Seems perfect to me. Using a fan made for aquariums is probably safer than using a household fan.

I have a 110 gallon Brackish Water Terrarium where i use 2 computer fans linked up to a computer fan speed controller with a AC/DC adapter. Works great, especially with the fans angled to blow on the front of the glass to reduce humidity but im sure it would help for cooling too. Silenx is the brand i use for the fans and the speed controller.
