Aquarium ornaments

I've been looking on the axie gallery and noticed that most ppl have very natural looking tank setups. Is this because aquarium ornaments are a bad idea for axies or is it just that most of you prefer a natural look? I want to get a big castle for my tank but now i'm wondering whether i should? Please let me know if what i want to do is ok - all feedback welcome!

Well I think is mainly due to people liking the natural look. But it is also due to not being able to find safe ornaments for axies (UN sharp, non toxic, size etc)

Lindsay, I wanted to have some really cool ornaments in my tank, too.

My boyfriend wanted to put a massive castle in there, but all of the edges are way to sharp for axies, and it would be soooo easy for them to get a fright and hit one of the edges and cut themselves.

I tested them by running my finger over the edges (esp. holes of castles and boats etc.) and seeing if I could cut myself on it if I pressed too hard. Axie's skin is softer than human skin, and their slime coat could easily be damaged by a scrape on a sharp/rough edge.

I think you'll just have to be creative and figure out a natural way of making your tank look great, or make something yourself like jon burns did.

yea always check for sharp edges on ornaments that you get because axies tend to sometimes swim rapidly around the tank and if there are sharp edges they might cut themselves so watch out for sharp edges!
