I know that axolotls like hard water and people often put salt in the water to help. I was wondering if I put some of this stuff that my girlfriend sells (at a pet store) called Aquarium Salt would it be helpful to put some of it in his filter. Here is a link that shows it: http://www.petfooddirect.com/store/product_detail.asp?pf_id=80434345&dept_id=150&brand_id=175&Page=
But on the box it just says "reduces stress and adds electrolytes." Well would there be any negative effects from this do you think?

That's the type of salt to add, it's also the type I use for salt baths. Aquarium salt, instant-ocean type salt work well too.

Ok thanks a lot Joan. I had used it on the guppies a few days ago and they seem to be doing great. I just added some to my axies tank. Thanks a lot.
