I am curious what you guys think about these two :)

I have no idea how to categorize them. The one seems to be, but the second one had freckles on his face which developed into full dirty face, now just pretty darn neat! His body is still split, seems leucistic on one side and wild on the other. I just dunno šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

I'm inclined to say speckled leucistic and wild.
Thank you for your reply, and your opinion. Appreciate!

My daughter has named the wild ā€œShrekā€. His sibling, she wanted to call ā€œFarquadā€. I just canā€™t do it! So they are affectionately known as Shrek and Baby Shrek.
Hoping this might give you a smile šŸ˜‰

Look like low grade mosaic. Def not standard axolotl.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if youā€™re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isnā€™t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
