I have been researching plants for an asian themed paludarium that I will be building in a 65 gallon Aquarium.
This research is leading me nowhere, can't find what I'm looking for in the garbage heap on the side of the road in the information superhighway that is the internet.
Please Help!
I am wondering which aquatic, semi aquatic, and terrarium type of plants come from Asia, more specifially Japan and/or Hong Kong. Or plants that would look like they belong in this theme.

java fern and cryptocoryne species are Asian; Spatterdock (Nuphar japonica) and Riccia fluitans are native to Japan, and both should tolerate cooler water, if that's what you're going for.

A pretty comprehensive list of aquarium plants is on this site. If you click on each plant, it'll give you more details, such as where it is from.

As for Hong Kong, i'd check out herping accounts from there on this forum. In one of the threads the autor posted list of local aquatic plants & various animals, at the moment i remember Blyxa aubertii for sure.

There are a ton of ecological studies available online which give rather extensive lists of particular species of plant, insect, bird, mammal, amphibian, reptile, etc...found in any given nature reserve, park, or geographic region of the world. Just google a particular country or state of interest and include the word "flora" and "pdf", and you will likely find a few papers with great lists. Cross check those lists against a few inexpensive indoor plant books.
