Well at last, after a 2 or so month hunt.. i've got it!

My very own golden... here s/he is. S/he is looking very nice and already has had a bite to eat of pellets and blood worms.

S/he is around 4inches, so only a baby.

I know the pic aint great, its only in a holding tank so i cant get a great pic...

Colin,

I ordered it from Frosts garden/aquatics store. They had to order it in and 'as they are VERY hard to come by at the moment' it cost me £25! well, it cost my mum that he he he... early crimbo pressie!

The axie looks like someone has thrown a can of paint at it! lol

Got the light and its now fitted, so all is good now for plants!!.,.. well hopefully :D

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
