Illness/Sickness: Axalotl

Hi. My axalotl ,Sam, who is 18 months old is very very swollen, I took him to the vets 8 weeks ago ,she took a sample of his fluid and sent it away,she later called me and said she thought he may have a parasite or could have ascites, she gave him Flagyl. and a diuretic after a week he got better and was great, unfortuanatly he started swelling again, I took him back to the vet she once again treated him, but this time he has not improved, I think he has ascites, it is very frustrating to see him suffer and not do anything. My question is, has anyone had an axilotl with this illness, what did they do and did it get better. LindaB

I haven't heard of ascites before, but I searched the forum and come up with these for you. They might help!
