Hi,
My 10 year old (one legged) female axolotl Margerita, has today suddenly appeared with what looks like a cataract in her left eye. It's slightly grey and cloudy looking.
Definately doesn't look right. She doesn't appear to be distressed though.
Has anyone ever heard of an axolotl getting cataracts????
Any ideas?;)

Cloudy eyes can be caused by shedding problems and nutritional problems. But if only ONE eye is affected, and it developed suddenly, the most likely scenario is an injury/infection. I suppose your next question is what to DO about it, and I don't have any easy answers there.
